Famed eco-photographers Gerry and Marcy Monkman will kick off the 2009 Maine Lakes Conference (June 20, 2009) with a presentation of their recent work. Gerry will also be offering a photo workshop during the course of the day. (Attendance at this workshop will be limited.)

The Monkmans began using their photographic skills to further conservation work in New England 15 years ago. Since beginning to work full time at their business six years ago, they have helped to protect more than 200,000 acres of New England wildlands with their photographs.

Their time is much in demand. This past October, they shot big projects for New Hampshire State Parks and New Hampshire Travel and tourism, started work on a new fall foliage book, led a photo tour of the White Mountains and spent several days shooting conservation projects for the Trust for Public Land and the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests.

Their memorable images were used in the campaigns to protect land around Lake Katahdin and Lily Bay on Moosehead Lake in Maine as well.

Mark your calendar! Maine Lakes Conference: June 20, 2009, 9 am to 4 pm, St. Joseph’s College, Standish, ME.
